HSR Style Watch: Jon Miller Likes His Yellow Shirt
During today's Hall of Fame Ceremonies, HSR saw Ford C. Frick Award honoree Jon Miller's shirt and thought, "I have seen that shirt before." After some research, HSR found a couple of examples of Miller's patented yellow shirt. We bring you the first edition of HSR Style Watch.

Someone Get This Man A Ticket to NYC... ASAP
2-9 Road Trip... Four shutouts... Pulling a guy after 5.2 innings of shutout ball... Inability to keep a consistent lineup... Inability to hide how he feels about players... Inability to keep a team together when players return from the DL. Do you want this guy running your team? It's no mystery who the man in the above picture is. A New York Darling, a proven winner, a man this team needs.
HSR Diagnosis: If they fail to win two of three from St. Louis with Niese and Johan in line to start, a change has to be made. Simple as that.
Keith Bulluck Comes Home
With training camp just a few days away, the Giants picked up some defensive insurance by signing veteran linebacker, and native New Yorker, Keith Bulluck to a one-year deal.
Bulluck suffered a torn ACL late last season and at his age that's a tough injury to come from. However, Giants brass isn't one to just give anyone $2.5 million away so they had to have had made sure Bulluck passed a physical and had a great workout in order to give him such money.
Great linebacker play has always been a staple of the Giants, going back to Sam Huff and up to recent players like Armstead and Barrow. The Giants are also very young at the linebacker position and Bulluck's signing really helps alleaviate the loss of Antonio Pierce when it comes to leadership and knowledge. To sign someone this close to training camp shows the Giants they want their young players to compete for playing time, and it may show that the front was not satisfied with how the defense was constructed.

Reyes and Beltran Return
For the first time since May of 2009, Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran are in the same lineup this evening as the Mets take on the D'Backs. Pelfrey is on the hill for the first time since and the break and one can imagine having what some would consider having the Mets' best lineup all year behind him will help his confidence when he takes the mound this evening.
While HSR believes in Beltran as a three hitter with DW in the four slot, we are excited that two of the main pieces of Mets teams that had strong seasona from 06-08 are together in the lineup. Luis Castillo also returns tonight for the first time in a couple of months. So it may have taken game 92, but the Mets appear to finally be getting back to full strength.
Sick Movie Trailer for "The Town"
Caught this online last night. The Town, based on the book The Prince of Thieves, is coming out in September. Affleck looks like he's found his niche. Gone Baby Gone was gritty and dark and tough. Like the studio attaching The Departed reference to go with the Boston setting.
He picked a great cast in this, full of hot at the moment actors in Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm and Blake Lively. Any movie with Blake in a push up bra is totally worth it. WSR has fallen victim to a good trailer, crappy movie before, but this looks like it will deliver.

The Irish Acting... Well, Irish
Eight Notre Dame football players, and a couple basketball players, were arrested for underage drinking in South Bend the other night. In college, there were raging parties but I was never told about them. I preferred the taste of Bud Light while watching west coast college football most nights.
The problem for these young men is that when you go to ND and do anything stupid, it will be all over the web and find a spot on SportsCenter. There is a lack of privacy on their part but it's go with the territory of being an athlete, amateur or professional, in today's society.

Cudi to the Rescue
WSP is going to dabble outside of the sports world for this new blog post. Kid Cudi is working on the follow-up to Man on the Moon: The End of Day. He released REVOFEV a couple weeks ago but this new track Erase Me is just insane. It was debuted on radio in Cleveland, Cudi's hometown, a couple weeks back but today a CD Quality version made its way online. "Day and Nite" was huge for Cudi, hitting #3 on the Billboard Top 100. This song has potential to crack number 1. WSP is waiting patiently to see what Cudder has in store for his second release, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, which comes out Sept. 14.

Carlos Beltran Back in the Lineup
Carlos Beltran
I give you this video above because today begins the second half of the season for my New York Mets. Additionally tonight marks the return of five time All-Star CF Carlos Beltran. If Beltran played for a team other than the Royals earlier in his career, he would have been made it to more All-Star games. Now Beltran comes to the Mets at a very important time, with the Mets loses of four of six before the break. Also he feels a need for a team 11th in the NL with 70 team home runs this season.
Everyone knows what a healthy Beltran can do. In his last full year of play, he 27 homers and drove in 112 runs, while scoring 116 runs. We can't expect a 2006 Beltran who finished fourth in MVP voting, but we should expect an upgrade in the Mets outfield over Jeff Francoeur.
This is a much different Mets team when Beltran left, personnel and personality wise. The reason this has been noted is because of how well the Mets have played this year (4GB - NL East, 1GB - NL Wild Card). Beltran has been a constant target of radio and media scrutiny when the Metropolitans under perform and the bullseye will certainly be square on #15 should he, or the Mets, not play well on the West Coast.

Gary Carter: Every 8-Year Old's Favorite Player
This video has been making the rounds today. The humorous part to me is one, the obvious baiting this guy is doing to Gary Carter. Carter probably is aware of YouTube, but not of the magnitude of it and shrugs it off. Better part, I really think those two young fellas couldn't fall asleep the previous night because they got to see Gary Carter the next day. Not a knock on "The Kid". A knock on the fact that this guy thinks we're going to believe that kids their age even know who Carter is. This is just an example of a guy trying to get his 2 minutes of internet celebrity. And here I am typing about him. Well done asshole. I fell for it.
We Back
In what could be the longest duration between posts, 890 days to be exact, Head & Shoulders has returned! I would like to thank being unemployed and really bored for giving me the opportunity to decide to return to the blogging game.
We will continue with the Book of the Month Selection, which will likely be from the world of sports, but don't be surprised if it veers into another subject matter.
A lot has happened since our last post, including the retirement of our first post poster boy Michael Strahan. I actually had the opportunity to shake Mike's hand outside a taping of the critically acclaimed HBO program Joe Buck Live. A dude behind me kept yelling "Pre-Nup" towards Strahan and his fiancée. Public knowledge would remember Strahan's first marriage ended in a bitter divorce, which obviously motivated this guy's outburst. I remember being nervous that Strahan would think it was me and that one of my favorite athletes growing up would kick my ass. But then I realized Strahan played in Philly once a year, I'm sure he's heard worse.
So once again, welcome back to Head & Shoulders, the premiere blog in my house.
